the North Carolina
and South Carolina
Finals for the Colgate Country
Showdown,
the
nation's l
argest country and
R&B music
talent search.
The Stampede has
helped launch some
of the top names in
Country music today
including Garth
Brooks and LeAnn
Rimes.
Megan Peeler,
the 2006 Carolina
Country Stampede
winner, and Karla
Davis, the 2009
winner, each advanced to
the nationals and
won!
During the Stampede
weekend, downtown Williamston
is transformed into
a musical showplace.
Main Street is
filled with
vendors featuring
handmade crafts,
unique foods and
great gift items.
And there's
entertainment for
the entire family.
As night approaches,
laughter, music and a festive atmosphere
spread down the
tree-lined
sidewalks.
Thousands from
across North
Carolina and
neighboring states
help kick the event
off on Friday
nights,
featuring the
Embers this
year.
On
Saturdays
the stage located on
West Main features local
and regional
musicians and kid's
acts. And don't miss
the Classic Cruzer
Car Show from 10
a.m. until 2 p.m.
just off Main and
Smithwick Streets
(parking lot beside
Williamston Lions
Club/Scout Hut.)
By mid-afternoon
on Saturday,
area winners in the
Carolina Colgate
Country Showdown
compete on the Main
Stage for the
Carolina
championship and
$1000 prize. The
winner advances to
the Regional Finals
and a chance at the
National Finals. The
National Finals of
the Colgate Country
Showdown is a
syndicated one-hour
television special
that has featured
Williamston four
times over the last
five years. Winners
appear with such
stars as Tanya
Tucker, Kenny
Rogers, Willie
Nelson and LeAnn
Rimes. The National
Winner receives a
$100,000 prize.
On Saturday
evening, the
festivities are
closed out with a
major musical act.

Parnell, Shenandoah,
John Anderson, David
Frizell, Highway
101 and Confederate
Railroad. This year
